INFO: Achpitpannik is Delaware (Lenape) for ancestors and Awossagame translates as heavens above. The vertical crosses at the bottom of the painting are indicative of a mans grave while the crosses mark those of the women. When buried the deceased were placed with their heads facing the west. This painting is an homage to those who have come before.
