SCREENPRINTING - In the traditional silk-screening approach, you start with a square wooden or aluminum frame about the size of a T-shirt. Over this frame you tightly stretch a piece of sheer fabric (originally silk, now polyester). This is the screen. Over this sheer fabric you use a liquid plastic coating (emulsion) that's sensitive to ultraviolet light. Art is then created and separated into individual colour plates. Each plate is output onto a piece of film. Each piece of film is "shot or burnt" into a screen using ultraviolet light which leaves the image open for ink to pass through. Next, you place your T-shirt on a T-shirt press and press the screen onto the fabric. By coating the screen with thick ink using a squeegee, you cause the ink to flow through the screen onto the T-shirt. For multi-color designs, you do this multiple times, starting with the lightest color and moving up to the darkest. After your shirt has been printed the image needs to be cured. Depending on the inks there are various methods of doing this. If you are using multi-purpose inks for paper or decals you can air-dry your product in a dust free rack. If you are using Plastisol inks for t-shirts then the ink needs to reach a temperature of 300+ degrees to be cured. To achieve this an industrial belt dryer is required.

Formats We Accept
- Illustrator (CS & below)
- Photoshop (CS & below - 300dpi)
- .ai, .eps, .pdf
- .tif , .psd (300dpi)

Vector Files - As long as the file was created in Illustrator (NOT PHOTOSHOP THEN PLACED IN ILLUSTRATOR) there is no need for you to do separations. Please convert all fonts to outlines or curves.
Raster Files - Each color needs to be on a separate layer. this means if you have 3 colors there will only be 3 layers. We can do this for you if you do not know how at $45.00 per hour, please call us for a quote. Please create your design at 300 dpi or higher, this is very important, anything lower than 300 dpi seriously compromises the print resolution (crispness).
Artwork Charge - $ 45.00 per hour

Art on Paper - We DO accept hardcopy submissions. The better the quality the less work we have to do and the less we charge you for artwork. Try to supply us with an ink drawing or a very dark pencil rendering at the very least. But remember a digital file is always the first choice.
Screen Fees - Each color needs its own screen. Depending on the size of the image, screen fees and set-up charges stay around $20 per imprint / color. This price includes set up, positives, and screen burning.
